Broadcom | Application scope: Communication interface, PLC, Measurement instrumentation, BVS=2500Vrms(min)@t=60s, UL approved These diode-transistor optocouplers use an insulatinglayer between a LED and an integrated photodetector toprovide electrical insulation between input and output.Separate connections for the photodiode bias and output-transistorcollector increase the speed up to a hundredtimes that of a conventional phototransistor couplerby reducing the base-collector capacitance.These single channel optocouplers are available in8-Pin DIP, SO-8 and Widebody package configurations.The 6N135, HCPL-0500, and HCNW135 are for use in TTL/CMOS, TTL/LSTTL or wide bandwidth analog applications.Current transfer ratio (CTR) for these devices is 7% minimumat IF = 16mA.The 6N136, HCPL-2502, HCPL-0501, and HCNW136 aredesigned for high speed TTL/TTL applications. A standard16 mA TTL sink current through the input LED will provideenough output current for 1 TTL load and a 5.6 kΩpull-up resistor. CTR for these devices is 19% minimum at IF=16mA.

This higher reliability makesthem suitable for use under harsh environment and conditionslike automotive. In addition, they are also suitableto be used in electronic signs and signals.To facilitate easy pick and place assembly, the LEDs arepacked in EIA-compliant tape and reel. Every reel will beshipped in single intensity and color bin (except for redcolor), to provide close uniformity.These LEDs are compatible with IR solder reflow process.Due to the high reliability feature of these products, theyalso can be mounted using through-the-wave solderingprocess.There are a variety of colors and various viewing angles(30°, 60° and 120°) available in these SMT LEDs. Ideally, the30° parts are suitable for light piping where focused intensitiesare required. As for the 60° and 120°, they are mostsuitable for automotive interior and exterior lighting andelectronic signs applications.
