Are counterfeit or misrepresented capacitors a real procurement risk, or is this mostly a concern for semiconductors?
Counterfeit and substandard capacitors are a genuine risk, though the failure modes differ from what you see with ICs. The most common problem is remarking, where a part is relabeled to show a higher capacitance value, a higher voltage rating, or a more stable dielectric class.
